Hello Craft Swap Friends

Hi to all of you who are stopping bye because you too are part of Janels spring craft swap.

I have recently started blogging and joined the swap just to meet you. I am and have always been crafty I will try my hand at anything. I did two years of fashion design at college after highschool where I did two and three unit textiles and design.

I have been suffering poor health, namely chronic fatigue syndrome for years so its great to be able to reach out and meet new friends and crafty ladies even when Im too tired to go out. :) Please join as a follower of my blog and please post a note below to say hello. Craftiness here in Australia tends to be a dying art with fabric and notion prices soaring and the whole persona that grandmas knit and crochet is still alive and well. You are all so talented and inspirational and I hope you will find me the same. I look forward to getting to know you all.

I am mother to Amelia who is nearly four and love so many things.
I will try anything crafty although Im not so great at scrapbooking, I love to cook and garden, Im a movieaholic, I love box games, butteflies, roses, dolphins, most music, dancing and most of all hugging meelie. :)

Craft Swap Day

Amelia is such a great help. We have been making craft swap secret goodies all day. She helped witht the stuffing and button selection and aside from the few for me and her and nanna and sewing in all the ends theyre all done

I thought it would take me all month.

So tomorrow its back to packing for the wedding and sorting out some tedious nonsense over the phone and in town.

And Wednesday is the last preschool day for the term, we nearly made a whole term without a sick day. But she didnt go on Friday.

I am steadily washing my way through all the georgous clothes Mum and I picked at Vinnies on Friday, a whopping 5 dresses for Amelia in various bigger sizes. Hooray.

Meeting the Easter Bunnings, oops bunny

On Thursday night Amleia and I were at the Bunnings Easter night painting and hunting eggs and eating pizza and got cross buns and eggs and lemon fizzy. And of course she had some slide time too. And then puked at 10pm. But she got to meet the bunny so heres some pics for you.

One Buck Bargain

SO here is my best thrifting find so far this year. A pink and purple singer sewing machine. A sewing machine for Amelia. YAY. Threes not too young to start is it??? She loves it. I got some batteries and the light works and the needles goes. It does put the thread into the paper but the whole bobbin thing isnt a happening thing, or existant so it all just pulls out again.

She even took it to bed with her the first night, and when shes in a creative mood she uses the foot pedal as a phone, haha when youre three everything can become a phone to call Nanna or an imaginery friend.

CRAFT MONSTER

Theres a craft monster eating my house, help its alive. Its taken over. For those of you looking for storage solutions for your craftiness well look no more. Theres no solution for this mess. The above photo is behind my studio door. I spent amelias first day of preschool, all 6 hours hanging 6 pinboards. Yes I have taught myself not only how to use a drill but I got the bug. Theres at least 40 holes in my house that werent there two months ago. HAHA

This is looking across my studio from the door (and 3 of ym five machines arent even in there at the moment) Thats right 5. AN overlocker, my original work horse, the one I won I use to make my signature shawls, my embroidery machine and one i got in 2008 with more bells and whistles inclucing walking foot and BSR, now i fonly i learnt how to use them.

Its eaten y dining table too. And this photo was after I cleared it to get to the machine to finsih the wedding gift.

This is looking in my studio from the door to the right. I climbed on the chair and into a removalists box of fabric yesterday. Yes I stood in the box. Double bunger good news. I found the piece of fabric I wanted for the craft swap and I have no broken limbs.

Am i cracking you up. I hope so cos the clutter drives me crazy but what can i say im a passionate women and passion leads to shopping, or is that just another passion. Anyways craft stuff is 50 to 75% dearer in oz than the usa so whens its on sale it comes to my house, and it didnt help none that from my last year of school all through my fashion design course and beyond (til i got sick) that i worked in ozs biggest fabric chain store and so i got first dibs on all the bargains :)

A New Day A New Me

Hi ALL
Well Ive been doing it again, thinking of a million awesome things to share but when I come to the computer Im blank. I ve moved on from thinking about life as a facebook status message to thinking blog ideas when I try and go to sleep :)
Ive had another allergy treatment today. Boo to 2 days in bed and a week feeling like crap but Yay to being stronger again soon. Mum has to drive me to the next town for them and boy did we get some bargains thriting again. Wahoo...
Some tops for going out, some court shoes and pink handbag both brand new, a dress, 3 necklaces and at least four dresses for Amelia. And there was more Ive forgotten. Ionly just washed the fifty things I bought last week.
Oh how I wish theyd forced us to learn touch typing at school.
Ive been dreaming up ideas for our craft swap and come up a beaut one a while ago. Not too quick to make but if it works it shall just become my new signature piece. SO watch this space.

THE WEDDING PRESENT IS DONE

It was a late night but its done

Now Im hoping to head out into the sun to sew up the ends on some of the headbands Ive crocheted. Most of the morning is gone and i havent even walked the dog or showered yet. Mil has a cold and i think she might have passed it on already.

Yesterday whilst rushing around posting happy mail love parcels and hunting for wedding shoes for Amelia I bumped into a friend of mine from the first grade. I havent spoken to her since, ohh, 1994 ish I think. So we swapped details and plan to catch up after Easter. Yay. I have been praying for friends and some relief from the isolation my fatigue causes. And her little baby boy is adorable.

Welcome Lindsay to my blog. I will endeavour to get some piccies up soon and learn how to make it all prettier. Hopefully find some more followers too :)
I have planted some peas and radish and bok choy today and i so hope they grow. I tried to vacuum but it has a problem :( Now to finish off my cousins wedding gift. Cant wait to show you all a pic. Its been in the making since, oh , last august (was supposed to be for their engagement) but thats ok cos we werent able to go in the end. Bubsie is at preschool so its all a frantic rush. Hope to squeeze in some crochet tonight too. Cant wait to take and post some pics. Might not be til after Easter though, thats when the wedding is.
And I have an allergy treatment on Friday that will see me knocked up for a few days.

Busy Weekend

Amelia and I had a girls day on Saturday. We went to the cinema and to visit Nanny and Poppy Darling. On Sunday Amelia went to Sunday School for the first time and we checked out a new fruit and veg shop with cheaper prices. We had pizza for tea and rewatched the proposal with Sandra Bullock.
There was a little crocheting happening too.
Today its back to the op shop to check out the winter stock and down to the rivers sale to grab some party shoes for Mil to wear to the wedding.
And I need a nap already.

Thrifting

So Yesterday I went to the salvos
I usually go to vinnies but I have been on the hunt for Golden Books ever since Megans post about bornagainbooks. And I hit the jackpot they had a pile of about 15, but of course I cant bear to cut them up and rebind them for the sake of it so into Amelias room they go hiho.
So I popped in there for 5 mins no handbag or anything and low and behold they were having a one dollar summer stock sale ready to change over to winter gear on Monday. Well that was it, it was like christmas. I got a few things for Amelia to wear and more than a few things to create a dress ups box for her. 4 belts, 2 handbags, a pair of sandals, a robe, a skirt, 2 pairs of pants, a few pants, a couple pretty evening tops, a handful of tanks and more than half a dozen tees. Then I had to go to the bank to get some money ;)))
Oh and two pottery jugs and a brand new teapot to use as a gift. Its plain white and I am dying to splurge on another and take to it with some blue nail polish so it matches my kitchen/dining. Some pretty flowers I think. I am just not sure if that would actually work.
So m off to get a couple more loads through before the cinema

New Ideas

You know I am always thinking of these fantastic things and thinking ohh that would make a good blog post but i am never near my computer and then when i am i cant think of them.
Amelia and i just had icecream for breakfast. yummo. but its not what you think. i am a bit of a health nut so its a frozen fruit smoothie and i make it thick and she is still eating it with a spoon, out of a tall cup and slopping it all down her freash dress. oh well.
today i didnt sleep in the birds have been waking me like 2 hours earlier than id prefer and thats just my luck, i am only asleeo on the days we have to get up early to get bub to preschool. i miss her so much when shes there but just go like a bat out of hell to get stuff done. they are such long tiring days i need to stay home and catch my breath on the ones in between.
I shall endevour to get some photos up soon. For those of you that think piles are bad, my studio door barely opens because i literally have a room full of supplies and my sewing is all over the dining table and my felt and crocheting all through the loungeroom. there is not an inch of free uncluttered space in the house and it drives me crazy. one sanctuary room would be great. but the other spare is full of all my papercraft supplies bookcases and my computer. :)
Houses in America look so big. I want the one off you me and dupree. the one on my spy looks pretty great too although we dont see the layout as clearly.
Not sure how i would cope with stairs on my tired days either.
After Megans comment i am plucking up the courage to introduce myself to some of the happy mail people on their blogs because i would love some penfriends and following blogs without talking to the person has been feeling a little like stalking.

Learning about America

Hi
I must say I am totally loving learning little things about America by reading the blogs of crafty happy mail love girls. Theres so many things you have and eat or say that I dont even know what they are. Or even the fact that we pronounce crocheting differently. Its great. Ive never really had the inclination to travel before but Im getting itchy feet. CSI Miami makes me want to visit there. I loooove the coast and sand and water and sunsets and dolphins. I havent been to the beach since breifly last October and that seems like a lifetime ago.

Born Again Books

Hi all
I have had a fantastic morning so far
I have designed and printed some personalised stationary for myself, and my sister and her housemate (and posted it as a surprise) and also made my very own born again book. I used an old golden book of Barbie cinderella and inserted pink and purple note pages. I think Ill add photos of AMelia and give it to her as a special treasure of memories.
I hope youre all having a great day. Im off to have lunch and make some envelopes to use with my stationary.
